The Folklore Food Blog: If I Were Richer

If I Were Richer

If I were richer
I’d buy a pitcher
With scenery on it.
‘Jolica ware
Storks here and there,
And a funny affair
With ladies on it.
In half a minute
I’d mix up in it
A wonderful drink
Peppermint, ice,
Lemons and spice
Taste pretty nice,
What do you think?
If Wishes Were Horses
If wishes were horses,
Then beggars would ride.
If turnips were watches,
I’d wear one by my side.
And if “ifs” and “ands”
Were pots and pans,
There’d be no work for tinkers!

Drink. The Babylonians worshiped a wine goddess as early as 2700 B.C. Now you can too. A refreshing drink for a hot summers day. Get a few drink umbrellas and the plastic monkeys.

2 quarts water sweetened
1 cup brown sugar
Juice of 5 lemons
2 sprigs of peppermint
1 cup Bourbon (Optional.)

1. Combine the water, sugar
2. Bring to a boil and let cool.
3. Place in refrigerator overnight.
4. Squeeze the lemons and crush the peppermint into the pitcher, and add the Bourbon
5. Pour over ice.
